Luke’s Story
Prior to joining Compass, Luke had just finished a contract in a content creation position. He had worked with Real Ideas before so decided to reach out again to develop his skills whilst being in a creative and collaborative environment.
Luke didn’t have much in mind about what skills he wanted to work on but jumped in with some of the creative sessions. One of them being building confidence in music sessions, in which he recorded and helped produce his own song with a local musician in Cornwall. Another, a video creation workshop titled Worms, ran by Justin Wiggan, which was a series of sessions consisting of creating a tv show of a rundown town occupied by worms! Luke getting involved with scriptwriting and video editing.
By taking part Luke has been able to start to build a wider network of creative contacts across Cornwall and work on being confident in his abilities. Whilst also being inspired to transfer the skills he learnt across to personal projects such as creating a film with his friend and having a band as a hobby.
Alongside this Luke has recently won a writing award from Young and Talented Cornwall for a folk story set in his local area. He is still on Compass working towards the short-term goal of being employed in a creative field then the long-term goal of being able to write as employment and having something he has written be published. To reach these goals he is still attending sessions and working with a mentorship he received from his writing award.
