About the Event:

Join us for an enchanting evening of cheese, wine, and conversation as we welcome acclaimed author Wyl Menmuir. We will delve into his latest book, The Heart of the Wood

In this intimate gathering, Wyl Menmuir will discuss his new book, The Heart of the Woods. Just as a parent leaves a legacy to their child, a tree leaves a legacy to its surroundings. This book is a deep and explorative companion piece to the Roger Deakin Award-winning The Draw of The Sea.

Throughout history, trees have shaped the tools we use, the boats we build, the stories we tell, the songs we sing, and some of our most important rituals. Our lives are intertwined with the trees and woodlands around us.

In The Heart of the Woods, Wyl Menmuir travels across Britain and Ireland, including 2 sites local to Liskeard, meeting those who plant trees, study them, craft beautiful objects from wood, and use them to help others. He explores our enduring relationship with trees, how it has evolved, and how our future is interconnected with theirs.

Written in collaboration with makers, crafters, bodgers, and woodsmen and women, this book will delight anyone who enjoys walking among the trees and those who have found themselves in the woods.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with Wyl Menmuir and explore the profound connections between humans and trees.
